Marcus Tullius Cicero was a Roman statesman, orator, and philosophical writer in the final decades of the republic. His works bring Greek philosophical debates into Latin and explore how thought can guide personal conduct and public life. In On Friendship, he considers the place of affection, integrity, and honest counsel in friendship.
